Mistakes happen; be it at home, work, or even in our relationships.
What do you do when you make a mistake?
- Accept reality: The mistake has already happened. It’s in the past. Don’t delve in unending “what ifs”
- Ask yourself, “What did I learn from this experience?”: Every mistake is an opportunity to learn something new. In this way, you don’t repeat the same mistake another time.
- Forgive yourself: Don’t beat yourself up about it.
- Boost your self-esteem: It’s normal to feel down occasionally. Don’t remain in that state. Give yourself a pep talk, listen to music, read motivational quotes; whatever it takes to get back your confidence.
- Reconnect: During this period, you may feel all alone. Talk to a loved one; a problem shared, is half solved after all.
- Get on with your life: Move on. Keep going.
And most importantly, apologize to whomever you may have wronged or hurt in the process.
