Mr. Jonathan Prince Cann Announced as New Board Chairman of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC
Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has appointed Mr. Jonathan Prince Cann as its new Board Chairman, effective February 20, 2025, following approval from the Bank of Ghana. He succeeds Mr. David Addo Ashong, who has served as Acting Board Chairman since August 2023.
Profile of Jonathan Prince Cann
Mr. Jonathan Cann is a highly experienced Management Consultant with Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) expertise. He also specializes in Organizational and Business Development, supporting SMEs and corporate entities in structuring, restructuring, and enhancing management systems and capacities across various industries.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mr. Cann holds an MBA in Financial Services from the University of East London (UEL) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. Additionally, he has earned multiple professional certifications in ISO Standards and Risk Management.
Jonathan is the founder and Managing Director of JPCann Associates Limited and its subsidiaries.
Mr. Cann brings extensive experience and strategic leadership to the Board of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, which he joined in June 2024, serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee. His appointment underscores the bank’s commitment to enhancing corporate governance and promoting sustainable growth in the financial sector.
His vast expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the Bank’s strategic direction, strengthening its market leadership, and advancing its long-term vision of financial inclusion and economic development in Ghana.
